Solar Activity & Radio

Especially for the CB and HAM bands solar activity plays a major roll on propagation/range.  The sun goes through a eleven year cycle of solar activity.  The summer of 2020 was the bottom (low solar activity). 

 So in my opinion 2022-2027 should be good for CB’s with upper and lower side bands.  For HAM’s the 6, 10, 12, 15 and 17 meter bands should also improve during this time frame. Then start degrading again as the cycle goes to the bottom again a few years after 2027.  Note that CB is part of the 11 meter band.  CB’s without upper and lower sideband are not effected much.

The HAM bands 20 through 160 plus are almost always working but they will improve some during this time also. 

FRS, GMRS, HAM UHF and VHF are not affected nearly as much if at all by the solar cycle.
